Ayurvedic Hair Fall

 1) Introduction

In Ayurveda, hair fall is known as ‘ khalitya ‘ or ‘ khalti.

 2) Symptoms

Excessive fall of hair. In a day, approx. 100 hairs falling out is normal, but if hair fall is more than this and new hair growth is slowed, then this could be a problem.

 3) Cause

    a) According to Ayurveda

  • When vata dosha is combined with pitta dosha, they let the hair fall.

  • When rakta dosha is combined with kapha dosha, they close the pores of hair roots; this is why other hairs also do not grow.

  • Hair is considered a mala (by-product) of asthi dhatu. If asthi dhatu is either vitiated ( dushit) or not properly formed, then it can lead to hairfall, and new hair may not grow properly

  • If digestive fire is not functioning properly, the nourishment of the dhatus will not occur adequately, which can eventually lead to the problem of hairfall.

How does hair oil work?

As soon as we apply oil to the hair, we massage the scalp, which improves blood circulation and reduces stress, hair oil also gives nourishment to the scalp , and gives strength to the roots, protect from direct sunlight.

If hair fall is due to poor blood circulation or Stress, oiling helps relatively quickly. However, if the Cause is nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalance, genetic factors, or some other reason, then the effects are neither as quick nor as effective.

3. Important point to know

1) Gut Health & Digestion is important

If gut health is not maintained properly and digestion is not working well, then no matter how nutritious the food you eat is, proper absorption will not happen.

Over time, hair growth will slow down, and the hair roots will become weak.

For good gut health, the best thing is to maintain a healthy lifestyle and get regular sleep.

2) Focus on diet

In almost all cases, diet plays a very vital role. So the first focus should be on diet

It is not that if someone is advised to take an amla or iron-rich diet, they should consume only that. This should not be done.

Instead of this, all food groups should be included in the diet, and only the deficient nutrients should be taken in slightly higher amounts.

Take an adequate amount of water

3) Focus on pranayama, Meditation, and yoga

Include meditation, yoga, and pranayam in your daily life.

This will improve blood circulation and ensure proper oxygen supply to the scalp.

It will also reduce anxiety, tension, and stress, help in getting good sleep, and improve gut health as well.

Hair fall is not a disease by itself, but it can appear as a symptom of different diseases or deficiencies. Therefore, oiling alone will not help unless the root cause is.
